The groundbreaking ceremony of Greater Matale Water Supply project

The groundbreaking ceremony of Greater Matale Water Supply project was held on 21st November 2014 with blessings of Hon. Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Out of this project, over 350,000 individuals in 250 GS Divisions of Matale will be benefited with purified pipe borne water. The total capacity of the treated water will be 75,000 m3 /day and this water will be distributed through a network running over 350km. The entire project will have five treatment plants and located in Matale town, Raththota, Rajjammana, Udathenna & Ukuwela.

OTV France, a subsidiary of Veolia water, world’s leader in water purification will be the main contractor. Total project cost is Euro 156 million and this will be financed by CACIB, France under French Export Credit guarantee COFACE, HNB Sri Lanka & Treasury.

Puritas is the local agent of OTV and involved in all local works of this project.
