‘Puritas Sath Diyawara – Going Beyond’ bags 3rd award in a row at the prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA)
Flagship CSR initiative of Hayleys Group that provides clean drinking water to villages affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) – Puritas Sath Diyawara’s “Going Beyond” initiative was recognized by Enterprise Asia as a leading social initiative in the Asian Region. In the recently concluded award ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand, Puritas (Private) Limited of Haycarb Plc which is under the Hayleys Group umbrella was applauded for its efforts of currently operating 13 Projects in North and North Central Provinces in Sri Lanka. All these projects are funded by the key sectors of the Hayley’s Group as its flagship CSR initiative.

Puritas Oxypura- Personal Protection Partner of the 2016 Colombo Motor Show
Puritas, a fully owned subsidiary of Haycarb, a Group member of Hayleys PLC was the Personal Protection Partner of the recently concluded Colombo Motor Show 2016, the largest international automobile event in Sri Lanka. The Colombo Motor Show which commenced this year under the patronage of Chief Guest Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance, is an annual event which brings together global manufacturers, industry specialists, distributors and motor enthusiast.
Puritas showcased their key products that included the new Oxypura Facemask range directly catering to motorcyclists and their passengers. Commenting on this innovative product range, Managing Director, Puritas/Haycarb, Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan said, “The fast deteriorating quality of breathing air is a growing global concern that need extensive education and solutions for Sri Lankan public as well. As a solution to this serious problem we have developed a new and fashionable face mask range with special activated carbon filter media to vastly improve the quality of breathing air of motorcyclists and its passengers to have pleasurable and safer riding experience. The Oxypura facemask range can be used to protect against the varying levels of air pollution in situations ranging from motor bike riding to agricultural & industrial use.
Speaking on the event Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan, further added, “We chose to partner the Colombo Motor Show, as it is the annual platform for industry experts and buyers to network and experience the latest developments within the industry. As champions and ardent drivers of environmental sustainability and management, we felt that this was a most pertinent platform to educate the public on how they could benefit from the health and safety factors of our products.”

Hayleys Group CKD – CSR Water Initiative “Puritas Sath Diyawara” wins prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award 2015
Puritas Private Limited brought home the prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2015 under the category of SME Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Drinking water based broad spectrum community development project. The Award honours Small and Medium Enterprises that have successful CSR policies that forms part of their core business and are appropriate to their size and business operations.
Puritas (Pvt) Ltd has been in the forefront of providing environmental engineering solutions with over 280 treatment plants in Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia treating over 24 million litres of water and wastewater per day. With over 20 years of experience in the purification industry, Puritas (Pvt) Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Haycarb PLC, the world’s largest coconut shell based activated carbon manufacturer and is also a member of the Hayleys Group which is one of the largest multinational conglomerates in Sri Lanka.
CKD is the most common illness amongst the farmers of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. While the underlying cause of CKD is yet to be determined 400,000 individuals are said to be affected with the disease and more than 22,000 lives lost. It is believed to be a water borne disease and has been proven that consumption of quality drinking water not only prevents the disease, but also reverses the early stages of the ailment. Puritas, being the specialist in water and wastewater treatment, designed “Puritas Sath Diyawara” to provide a self-sustaining, integrated solution for the communities in CKD affected areas. The project includes a Reverse Osmosis water purification system, cost effective distribution methodology, effective waste management system, knowledge dissemination centre, organic farming initiatives, good health and sanitation initiatives, and livelihood development activities. The project was implemented and successfully operating in 4 villages of the North Central Province with 2 nearing completion and 4 such projects are in progress and expected to be completed by December 2015.

Puritas commissions pioneering wastewater treatment plant for the coir industry in Sri Lanka
The wastewater produced in the process of removing unwanted elements in the coir substrate manufacturing process, if not managed properly, can become a threat to the local environment. No cost-effective technology was available to treat this wastewater.Puritas (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Haycarb PLC, using its state-of -the-art analytical laboratory and pilot scale testing facility, successfully designed, constructed and commissioned an advanced wastewater treatment plant at theBotanicoir production site in the North Western Province.

Botanicoir is now the first coir substrate manufacturer with such an advancedwastewater treatment plant.
